I just put a JRSC on my SI and installed the BTC. I have no idea how to use it or when to use it. I hear no detonation and it runs great in the 12 0'clock position. When should I adjust it? The weather here has been getting hotter and it just seems that I am not getting the boost out of it that I did the first few days when it was cooler.. Do I need to adjust this or is it to just pull the timing in case I start detonating?

Stupid questions I know.. but I need to know.

did you bother to read the instructions that came with the BTC? it pretty much explains how to install it and how to tune it and what it is designed for. if not, start there, and then come back and ask questions if you still have any. i don't want to necessarily tell you what to do, because an important part of keeping a JRSC car runnign well is knowing WHY something does what it does and how it does it. basically, the btc pulls timing absed on boost ... basically. it is designed so u can run stock timing with the blower. but read the instructions.

What is your timing set at and what is your boost level? Do you have a MAP MOD? What are you using for Fuel Management?

If you are running stock timing and more than 6psi, I would say KEEP it at 12 o'clock. You could put it down a few clicks, but I would keep it at 12 o'clock under normal every day driving conditions. Better to be safe than sorry. Where the BTC helps out is every day stop and go driving. You get to run full advance when you aren't in boost so when you are leaving a stop light/sign you don't bog as much and when you are casually cruising down the highway you don't need as much gas to accelerate up a hill for instance.

    OR

You can play with it a bit and run down a click at a time until you start noticing a few pings here and there. Do one click down from 12 o'clock and drive it for a bit and see if you notice some pinging action...if not, then go another click.

At 6psi with the larger injectors and MAP MOD, I was able to run the car with no timing retard at all.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Timing is set to stock. I have not touched it. I have the 6lb pulley on there but it is reading anywhere between 7-8 depending on the weather. I have no map mods and am just running the JR FMU for fuel and stock injectors.

I was playing with it the other day and turned it about 6-8 clicks to the left and eased it into boost and did not hear any detonation at all. My exhaust is too loud for me to hear it. So I am leaving it in the 12 o'clock position till I get the high flow cat on and get the test pipe off.
